Elk Grove - Galt CERT volunteers are involved with the community by volunteering our services to local community events. We provide volunteer services for First-aid and Traffic control as well as staffing our CERT Booth to educate the community about CERT. This gives our members the oportunity to practice the skills they have been trained on by the Cosumnes Fire department as well as the Elk Grove and Galt Police departments.
Below are the 2010 Elk Grove - Galt Community Events that the CERT Team volunteers provide the services listed above. A special thanks to all who volunteered!!!

Elk Grove's 14th Annual Salute to theRed, White & Blue July 4th
"First-aid & CERT Booth"
The City of Elk Grove hosted the 14th annual Salute to the Red, White & Blue fireworks show at Elk Grove Regional Park. The event is Elk Grove?s premier Fourth of July celebration - a patriotic salute to the birth of our nation and recognition of the City?s 10th anniversary
Once again the event organizers enlisted the services of the Elk Grove / Galt CERT team to provide First-aid coverage during the event. CERT teams spread themselves throughout the park and provided First-aid service throughout the day and into the night (3pm - 10pm).
The event went very smooth this year with only a few skinned knees and a tree running onto the football playing field of some of the guest. Fortunately only one player was run over by the tree and sustained a small cut above his eye.
The CERT booth was also in action educating Elk Grove and Galt communities about CERT and encouraging them to become CERT members.
Thanks to the CERT volunteers for taking time out of their own holiday celebrations in order to provide this service to the community!

“First-aid”
Elk Grove / Galt CERT members volunteered their personal time to provide First-aid service for the Galt Jr Warrior's Football games at Galt High School on September 18th & 25th.
The Sept 18th games proved to be “slow” day of the two weekends. The games on Sept 25th had multiple heat related illnesses and a few football injuries as well. In all, our CERT First Responders reacted as trained and treated the young adults as trained.
Special thanks to all who volunteered!!

Sacramento City Fire Captain Terry Gee's Memorial Service December 30th, 2010
Early Monday December 21st, Fire Captain Terrence Gee, passed away. He was surrounded by his immediate family in his home. In February of this year, Terrence was diagnosed with cancer. He leaves behind is wife Nancy of twenty-four years, son Samuel age twenty-two, and daughter Amanda age twenty, as well as, a great number of other family and friends.
Terry began his career in the fire service with Sacramento Fire Department in February 1985. He spent a significant portion of his career assigned to Station 57 where he worked with his dear friend, Captain Bob Kiehne. In December 2005, Terry promoted to the rank of Fire Captain and worked at a number of stations; however his most recent assignment prior to illness was Station 60.
In addition to his work with the Sacramento Fire Department, Captain Gee was an elected Member of the Board of Directors for the Florin Fire District. In that role he guided the District through the merger with the American River Fire District in 1997. "Terry Gee was a tireless advocate for both the District and the residents it served. Without his leadership and perseverance the merger between AmericanRiver and Florin Fire Districts would not have occurred" said Rick Martinez, retired Fire Chief for both Districts. Following that merger Captain Gee continued to support the regionalization of the fire service which led to the creation of the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. The Elk Grove / Galt CERT team volunteers worked together with Sac CERT to provide parking control. Special thanks go out to the following volunteers:
